Leading academic medical center seeks a Director, Benefits for its hospital and clinical operations. Dartmouth Hitchcock has consistently been recognized and rewarded as one of the nation’s top 50 hospitals in one or more specialty areas, a top 50-cancer center and a top 40-medical school. It is focused on translational research, advanced education, clinical practice and community partnerships in providing high quality, patient-centered healthcare. Built completely new in 1991 and a significant addition opened in 2005, DHMC is an impressive, state of the art medical center located on 225 acres in Lebanon, N.H.

DHMC is a team-oriented and union free environment that has experienced change and growth over the last few years with continued plans for growth in the future. There is a culture of learning and teaching and collaboration at all levels.

Reporting to the VP, Human Resource Operations, this position serves as the benefits leader for the clinical enterprise, supporting an employee population of approx. 6,000 FTE’s and managing a staff of 12 FTE’s. The focus is on design, compliance, operations and service delivery. There is a complex array of multiple H&W and Retirement plans and a new 3-tier service delivery function.

Deliverables include: assess regulatory compliance and establish appropriate processes and controls; assess vendor service level agreements, exploring opportunities for consolidation and effective cost utilization; develop benefits staff and resources to ensure high performance and ongoing service delivery excellence. There is an imperative for teambuilding and process improvement given a recent reorganization of the benefits function.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of benefits management experience in a complex benefits environment

  • Both H&W and DB/DC design, administration and communications

  • Management in a structured compliance environment

  • Continuous improvement, metrics and best practice assessment

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills

  • MBA or relevant Masters degree
